High School Seniors – 12th Grade ONLY

PLEASE READ: THE APPLICATION DOES NOT SAVE YOUR PROGRESS. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE Application IN ONE SITTING, WITH ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS READY TO UPLOAD.
It is the student’s responsibility to submit a completed application, together with all supporting documents, including a Letter of Recommendation and/or additional essays, and that all documents are submitted no later than 11:59 pm on February 11, 2026, to be considered for the Freedom High School Local Scholarship. February 11, 2026 is the FINAL AND LAST DAY TO APPLY TO THE FHS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP.
The following ITEMS are REQUIRED documents and should be prepared, written, or received prior to completing your online Local Scholarship Application.
NOTE: Students will be using Office 365 account to complete the application.
1. Personal Essay: Your essay should fully address the following prompt: Describe the world you come from (e.g., your family, community, or school) and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. Talk about your future goals and ambitions, life experiences, lessons learned, hopes and dreams. Explain why post-secondary education is important to you. This is an opportunity for the scholarship donor to learn about YOU and who YOU are. [1] typed, [2] single-spaced, [3] formatted in 12pt Times New Roman, & [4] 500 words (plus/minus 25).
2. Letter of Recommendation: Only one letter of recommendation (LOR) is required. Be sure to give your recommender a minimum of two weeks to complete and return the LOR to you. The recommendation can be from a coach, community organization, employer, teacher, or counselor. Letters of recommendation from a family member are discouraged. The letter should tell the committee about things they can’t observe in the rest of your application and school records (i.e., your character, your strengths, & your sense of purpose).
3. Resume/List of Extracurricular Activities/Academic Awards/Athletics: Please use your own resume to list all of your information.
*4. Additional Essay or Letter of Recommendations NEEDED. Many scholarships listed in the Local Scholarship Application require additional essays or letters of recommendation specific to their individual criteria. Here is a list of additional information required if you choose to apply for their scholarship.
A. Carol Ann Memorial Scholarship: Write a 300-word essay on "Why do you wish to go into the medical field?"
B. FHS Athletic Boosters Scholarship: Write a three-paragraph essay sharing the following information: List of sports played, the highest moment as an athlete and lowest moment as an athlete, and greatest challenge as an athlete. Also requires an additional letter of recommendation from a coach for a sport you play.
C. FHS Parents Club Scholarship: Write a 500-word essay describing a community service event that you participated in and what it meant to you and how it benefited the community.
D. CSF Scholarship - requires an additional letter of recommendation
E. Jones Family Perfect Attendance Scholarship: Write an essay on "The Importance of Staying in School"
F. Kelsey Martinez Memorial "Today Will Be Great" Scholarship: Write a few short paragraphs, whether you attend trade school or college, describing how your future success will help your community.
G. Kirk M. Sullivan Jr. Memorial Wrestling Scholarship: Write an essay on why sports are important to you and what it means to be a part of a team.
H. Michael Lee Foreman Jr. Memorial Scholarship: Write an essay about yourself, your plans after high school and why you believe you are qualified for the Michael Lee Foreman Jr. Athletic Scholarship.
The Local Scholarship Application can be found in two places online. 1. Freedom HS website – front page at the very bottom 2. Freedom HS website on the college & career center tab and it can be found on the career center front page.
